Help TAP to secure $100,000 #LA2050

We are very excited today, as the public vote for the LA2050 Challenge officially opens!

Read on to find out more about the Challenge and how you can support The Academy Project’s proposal. Every vote counts!

What is LA2050?

Launched by the Goldhirsh Foundation in 2011 to inspire an outbreak of civic activism and to develop a roadmap for the future of the Los Angeles region, LA2050 is a community-guided initiative driving and tracking progress toward a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles.

With assistance from the community and experts, a series of goals have been developed for what LA will look like in the year 2050. All are centered on making LA the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live. LA2050 is driving this vision forward.

What is the Challenge?

On September 8th 2015, LA2050 launched it’s third ‘My LA2050 Grants Challenge’, a $1,000,000 competition to request proposals that will support the LA2050 vision to make LA the best place to:

  1. Learn

  2. Create

  3. Live

  4. Connect

  5. Play.

Ten awards of $100,000, two for each category, are up for grabs. The Challenge jury will select one winner among the top 10 publically voted submissions in each of the five categories. They will also select a winner in each category on merit, irrespective of votes.

Public voting starts today, Tuesday, October 20th and ends Tuesday, November 3rd.

What's the significance of this for The Academy Project?

The Academy Project has submitted a proposal under the Learn category of the Challenge.

The $100,000 award would act as an awesome catalyst for achieving our goal of launching The Academy in academic year 2016 - 2017, changing lives and trailblazing a new approach to education for foster youth.

How can I help?
